My name is Michael Mimms, and I would like to share some great news! My organization, the New Jersey Hospital Association’s Health Research and Educational Trust, has been awarded a grant so that a team of us can focus on helping the uninsured or those who need help reapplying. As such, I am a fully trained and certified enrollment assistance navigator, qualified by the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI) to assist New Jersey consumers with enrolling in affordable health insurance (and applying for financial assistance, if needed) through the online “marketplace” or NJ FamilyCare.

I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you to discuss ways that I can get connected to the populations you serve and offer my assistance. Some ideas that come to mind include:

  • Forwarding my information and offer of assistance through your regular communications.
  • Joining you in any virtual or in-person special events to make a brief presentation, answer questions and set appointments for one-on-one assistance.
  • Collaborating on hosting a virtual or in-person event for information and/or enrollment assistance. If needed, I could invite my colleagues to help as well.
  • Scheduling to be on-site at the same time each week for in-person assistance.
  • Making direct referrals of those in need of assistance.

For those who were able to participate in last week’s healthcare enrollment assistance webinar, it was great to connect and introduce you to our team of certified healthcare enrollment navigators! As promised, and for those unable to attend, below is a recording of the event:

Rest Assured. Get Insured

Health insurance coverage gives you better access to healthcare services and financial peace of mind. New Jersey has an expanded open enrollment period Nov. 1, 2020, through Jan. 31, 2021, for New Jersey residents to secure health insurance that meets their needs. And our veteran health navigators are here to help.

Our Navigators

NJHA’s Health Research and Educational Trust first launched its veteran navigator program in 2013 to hire former U.S. servicemen and women and train them to assist consumers in exploring new insurance options under the Affordable Care Act. Since then, they have continued to help N.J. residents access services to support good health, from insurance enrollment to mental health care.
